Thank you for visiting this web-site. My name is Cheryl Nugent Salva and from as far back as I can remember I have wanted to help children and families in need. One person can make a difference in a child's life. It is the small efforts that make the differences. If we can help one child at a time that is a life saved.
This is what motivated me to dust off my sewing machine and get creative. Soon the Family Tie Bands were created.
Family Tie Bands are handmade bracelets constructed from vintage and recycled ties, making each one unique. This symbolizes the vast differences in the economic status and needs of each of these children.
Our mission is to raise awareness of the positive impact one person can have on a child's life. Let that person be you. When you wear your Family Tie Band, you will be supporting the efforts needed to spread the word. Proceeds will be donated to Kids in Crisis a Connecticut children's advocacy organization, featured on this website.
Neglect and abuse have devastating, long-term consequences, even on the youngest victims. Please help me help them.
I first learned about Kids in Crisis back in 2007 and after a tour of their facility I was humbled, to say the least. I was particulary affected by the plight of a two week old baby that had to be taken from his mother at birth, due to extenuating circumstances. Seeing this innocent baby being cared for by volunteers - people like you and I, who choose to donate their time and energies - made me hopeful that together we can help these children. I became passionate about assisting in the fundraising efforts needed to continue this vital work.
The need is ongoing; when one child leaves the program, there is another waiting to take his or her place. Our continued support is essential. There is no donation of any kind that is too small. Family Tie Bands is a terrific place to start.
